Stefanos Spanopoulos


Born in Athens, he took his first piano lessons at the age of 9. 3 years later entered the class of Myrto Mavrikou in the National Conservatory of Athens, with a scholarship. He graduated at the age of 16, with the highest distinction of the Conservatory.

He continued his studies under Germaine Mounier in the École Normale de Musique de Paris/Alfred Cortot with a new scholarship from the Academy of Athens, where he obtained the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste, Diplôme Supérieur d' Exécution, Diplôme Supérieur d' Enseignement and Diplôme Supérieur de Musique de Chambre. He also obtained a Postgraduate Degree in the Royal Superior Conservatory of Madrid, in the class of Joaquín Soriano.

He has participated in the Sommerakademie Mozarteum in Salzburg, the International Piano Course of Brussels and in the Menuhin Academy in Switzerland, and has won prizes in International Competitions such as the Albert Roussel International Competition, in Sofia, the Joaquín Rodrigo International Competition in Madrid, and the Young Chorus and Orchestra National Competition in Athens.

He has performed with Orchestras such as Sofia Symphony, Symphony Orchestra of the Spanish Radio and Television, the Valencia Symphony Orchestra, the Valencia Opera Orchestra Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, and also has collaborated with the Orchestre the Paris. He has worked with conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Yaron Traub, Adrian Leaper, Neeme Järvi, Oliver Gilmoure, Walter Weller, Jacob Kreizberg, Mikhail Jurowski among others. He has given recitals, performed with orchestra and played Chamber Music in concert halls like Sala Bulgaria in Sofia, Gasteig and Residenz in Munich, Mirabell in Salzburg, Teatro Monumental in Madrid, Palau de la Musica in Valencia, Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Salle Pleyel and Salle Cortot in Paris, Principal Theatre and Auditorio in Castellón, Cervantes Theatre in Malaga, Kursaal in San Sebastián, Arriaga Theatre in Bilbao, CAEM in Salamanca, Auditorio in León, among others.

He has given recitals with soloists of the Berliner Philarmoniker, the Wiener Philarmoniker, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, such as Hansjörg Schellenberger, Benoît Fromanger, Bela Kovács, Reinhard Wieser, Ernst Ottensamer, Enrico onofri, Magdalena Martínez, Ruben Marqués etc., as well as many solo recitals, in France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Belgium and has also given various Masterclasses as a chamber music and piano professor.

Actually he is holding positions in the University of Valencia, the Superior Conservatory of the University of Salamanca, and the Superior School of Music Reina Sofía(Escuela Superior Reina Sofía) in Madrid and has also received the prize Intercentros Grado Superior, for his artistic and academic contribution to the Spanish Higher Education.

Stefanos Spanopoulos speaks 7 languages and was a Champion in the 5th National Mathematical Olympiad at the age of 11.

Στέφανος Σπανόπουλος

Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα όπου έλαβε τα πρώτα μαθήματα πιάνου σε ηλικία 9 ετών. Σε ηλικία 12 ετών γίνεται δεκτός με υποτροφία στο Εθνικό Ωδείο Αθηνών(τάξη Μυρτώς Μαυρίκου Αναγνώστου) απ’όπου αποφοιτεί σε ηλικία 16 ετών με Άριστα Παμψηφεί, 1ο Βραβείο, Αριστείο Εξαιρετικής Επιδόσεως και Ειδικό Βραβείο στη μνήμη Μανώλη Καλομοίρη.

Στη συνέχεια επεκτείνει τις σπουδές του στην Ακαδημία Μουσικής Παρισίων École Normale de Musique de Paris “Alfred Cortot”, με 6ετούς διάρκειας υποτροφία από την Ακαδημία Αθηνών, όπου αποκτά μεταξύ άλλων τα ανώτατα διπλώματα κονσερτίστα, εκτέλεσης, διδασκαλίας και μουσικής δωματίου (τάξεις Germaine Mounier, Manfred Stilz, Nina Patarcec) και στο Ανώτατο Βασιλικό Ωδείο της Μαδρίτης, όπου απέκτησε μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο(τάξη Joaquín Soriano).

Συμμετείχε στη Sommerakademie της Ακαδημίας Μοτσαρτέουμ του Σάλτσμπουργκ, στο 12ο διεθνές σεμινάριο πιάνου των Βρυξελλών και στο σεμινάριο μουσικής δωματίου της Ελβετικής Ακαδημίας Μενούχιν.

Βραβεύτηκε σε σημαντικούς διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς (Albert Roussel, Σόφια, Joaquín Rodrigo, Μαδρίτη κ.α..) αλλά και στον Εθνικό Διαγωνισμό της Χορωδίας και Ορχήστρας Νέων(Χ.Ο.Ν.).

Πραγματοποίησε συναυλίες και τουρνέ ως σολίστας και συνεργάστηκε με ορχήστρες όπως η Συμφωνική της Σόφιας, η Ορχήστρα Παρισίων(Orchestre de Paris), η Ορχήστρα της Ισπανικής Ραδιοτηλεόρασης, η Ορχήστρα της Βαλένθια η Οrquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana του Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia υπό τη διεύθυνση των Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Neeme Järvi, Adrian Leaper, Yaron Traub, Oliver Gilmoure, μεταξύ άλλων.

Έχει εμφανιστεί σε αίθουσες όπως η Sala Bulgaria της Σόφιας, ta Gasteig kai Residenz tou Monaxou, to Megaro Mirabell tou Salzburg, το Teatro Monumental της Μαδρίτης, το Μέγαρο Μουσικής της Βαλένθια, το Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, τις Salle Pleyel και Salle Cortot του Παρισιού, το Εθνικό Θέατρο του Καστεγιόν, το Θέατρο Θερβάντες της Μάλαγας , μεταξύ άλλων.

Έχει εμφανιστεί σε ντουέτο με σολίστες της Φιλαρμονικής Ορχήστρας του Βερολίνου, της Φιλαρμονικής Ορχήστρας της Βιέννης, της Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας της Βιέννης , της Κρατικής Όπερας της Ουγγαρίας, της Εθνικής Ορχηστρας της Βαρκελώνης, της Ορχηστρας της Βαλένθια κ.α., όπως οι Hansjörg Schellenberger, Benoît Fromanger, Ernst Ottensamer, Reinhard Wieser, Bela Kovacs, Magdalena Martinez, Ruben Marqués, Enrico Onofri κ.α.

Έχει δώσει ρεσιτάλ πιάνου σε Γαλλία, Γερμανία, Αυστρία, Ελβετία, Ισπανία, Βέλγιο και Βουλγαρία ενώ έχει παραδώσει Master class πιάνου και μουσικής δωματίου σε διάφορα μέρη της δυτικής Ευρώπης.

Από το 2007 παραδίδει Master ως καθηγητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Valencia, ενώ διδάσκει και στο Ανώτατο Πανεπιστημιακό Ωδείο της Salamanca.

Ο Στέφανος Σπανόπουλος μιλάει επτά γλώσσες και βραβεύτηκε από την Ελληνική Μαθηματική Εταιρεία στην 5η Εθνική Μαθηματική Ολυμπιάδα σε ηλικία 11 ετών.
